NT: Alice Springs Beanie Festival
• Begun in 1997 as a way for remote communities to earn an income through selling handmade beanies, this iconic (and quirky) festival is a Top End favourite.
• Annual exhibition attracts close to 9000 visitors and 7000 beanies from across the desert, the continent and the world. Celebrating 20 years this year.
• Beanie-making workshops, music, food and art at the Araluen Arts Centre on opening night and kangaroo on the campfire.
