The much anticipated BFGoodrich KM3 mud terrain tyres are starting to cop some serious hype after years of product development and refinement. The next gen muddies are due to hit the Aussie commercial market in June, following an international media launch in the Vic High Country last week.

Initially 25 sizes will be available, to fit 16-20 inch rims, although a full complement of 38 sizes will eventually be offered by the end of 2019.

The KM3 is a tyre for those who want to push themselves and their vehicles to the limit. We’ve been putting them through their paces on some of the gnarliest tracks imaginable during the testing phase, and to say they’ve performed admirably would be an understatement.

The KM3 has five percent better overall mud traction than it’s predecessor the KM2, a longtime favourite of serious mudslingers. ‘Mud-phobic’ bars on the new tyres’ shoulders help to release compacted mud to enhance performance when you’re up to your axles and praying for traction. The Terrain-Attack tread pattern features massive tread blocks that deliver serious grip from any approach angle.

The arms race to create the perfect mud terrain tyre has been an incredible boon for the serious offroader. BFG’s new Krawl-TEK compound delivers eight percent better rock traction and enhances grip on slick surfaces, while the tyres’ Linear Flex Zone allows it to envelope uneven terrain at reduced inflation for maximum grip and climbing power.

The KM3 is BFG’s toughest tyre yet. They’ve got the hardiest sidewalls we’ve encountered, and they’re built to resist pinch shock, cuts and chips.
